Everything went well, we were a party of 14 and we enjoyed the pizza's and salads and the antipasto plates. The Pizza's took a while to come out but we enjoyed our time and the food. We were celebrating hubbies 62nd birthday with his favorite food which is Pizza.
I'm a Pizza Lover so most of the time Pizza from Houston leaves me like Meh . This was my first time trying Grimaldi's. I can attest their pizza tastes like a true New York/New Jersey made pizza. Very authentic. I got half Margherita and half of their signature Extra Pepperoni Hot Honey. The Suwauce was Saucing Baby! Tangy with the right amount of sweetness and garlic. The only qualm I have is do not call a pizza extra pepperoni, but then only put a normal amount of pepperonis on it. That was false advertising to what I received. Also, I was charged $2 for basil to be added to the Margherita pizza, which I didn't ask for and thought basil normally comes on Margherita pizzas. but I paid it. Grimaldi's is a true pizza parlor like we had back in the day. It's high class so not a Pizza Hut where we could dine in with the cloth napkins for a reasonable price, and definitely not a CeeCees. This place is on the pricey side but given the area...it is what it is, so bring your purses and wallets because it's costly, albeit worth it. The Staff was nice and the restaurant was clean. The parking is a pain, but if you circle the block long enough you will find a spot, or park in the visitor garage or valet if you're ballin! I recommend this place!
A typical haunt for when I am craving pizza! Typically have to pay $5 to park nearby if eating inside of the restaurant. Restaurant tends to usually be pretty crowded - will sit in the bar area most of the time if dining in. Bartenders are usually pretty quick and helpful when serving! Ambiance is definitely a bonus because it's always nice dim lighting with jazzy music in the background. Love taking the food to go as well! Just heat the pizza up a couple minutes in the oven when getting home so that everything feels just as fresh as when I left the restaurant. :) also very helpful to frequently use their rewards program in the app!
Everything was spot on and delicious. Caesar salad-- fresh, tangy, creamy. Brooklyn Pizza-- how, oh how do I express my love for this one? Chewy crust. Robust, herby, and flavorful sauce. Perfectly fresh mozzarella and ricotta cheeses-- complimented by sweet sausage and Italian meats, followed closely by roasted sweet red peppers. This is the pizza of the gods. We had the dessert trio-- I'll be honest, I did not find the cannoli or the tiramisu to be great. In fact, I found the tiramisu to be incredibly bland and disappointing, with the cannoli a strong runner up. However. The cheesecake. The cheesecake is decadent. AND MADE RIGHT THERE AT GRIMALDIS. Not a frozen shipped cheesecake. A freshly made slice of decadence. Yes. Get the cheesecake.
If it is a weekend or holiday make reservations. The wait can be a bit long, but the pizza is worth it. While you wait take in the sights of the waterway on the lower level. This Grimaldi's Pizzeria location might seem small at first but this is just the upper level. Once you make your way downstairs you the space opens up with the option to dine on the patio. Pizza is always piping hot and fresh and at a reasonable price. Now..the only gripe I have is the prices for some of the bottles of wine which are a tad overpriced for the selection, but this is the business norm for restaurants.
This was a different type of pizza for me. The crust was thin and kind of crispy. I enjoyed the pizza by the slice with pepperoni, jalapeños, and hot honey -- it was AMAZING! The service was exceptional as well. I loved the location and the ambience. I will definitely eat here again, and look forward to it.
It's in a perfect location near the hotel we stayed at In Houston. It was within walking distance so I ordered a pizza to go. Service was quick with a friendly face. The crust was perfect with toppings on every corner (which i appreciate).
This Gramaldis location popped my Yelp waitlist cherry! That being said, don't be like me- remember to join the Yelp waitlist before you arrive. Because I did not- we had a pretty long wait, and we were not reminded that there was a bench seat downstairs for a more comfortable waiting experience (neither was the pregnant couple beside us). (I mention this so again, you don't follow my lead and instead find comfortable seating lol) Once seated, we were comfortable in our usual spot downstairs. If you've been, you know it comes complete with a casual basement feel, and somewhat open kitchen. Apart from a rogue olive, my rendition of the Brooklyn bridge pizza was awesome (per usual), and I found a new winner on the menu. You can create your own dessert trio! Any 3 of your favorite items. Next time I'll try 3 new items, because each of my pick was just okay, but either way, this is a really fun way to switch up your dessert game. Until next time Gramaldis!
Omg, Grimaldi's, where have you been all my life? I mean, I knew you were here. I've had your pizza delivered for late afternoon meetings at the office but, really, that just doesn't compare to sitting here with Frank Sinatra crooning in my ear as I take a break away for an actual sit down lunch today. Ordered the prosciutto arugula on a 12" cauliflower crust along with a small Caesar. Salad was crisp cool and fresh, nicely dressed and a perfect size for a side/starter. The star of the show though, is this pizza. White pizza with a healthy dose of prosciutto on top, and all the traditional Italian spices that complement it so well. And the arugula of course, adding that smidge of bitterness herb that makes the entire pie *chef's kiss* Dana has been hustling the entire time I've been here- I can't help but wonder how many flights of stairs she walks a day?! What a perfect escape from the demands of the office for a quick and DELICIOUS lunch.
